What Would I Say    (Mandel, Beaudette, West) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Just a rose to say hello, remember me?
You might recognize me.  One of your love's lost refugees.
See, you've crossed my mind more than a few times since that day you crossed my path.
How about dinner?  We could reminisce the past.

What would I say to you?
Would I tell you I still think about you?
Even after all this time, would you think that I'm a fool?
What would I say to you?
Would I hint of romance, and starry nights?
What would I say to you?

All it took was one look into your eyes.
My heart stuck in my throat.  You really caught me by surprise.
Then you floored me with a kiss.  Could more than friendship have endured?
I have to ask you so I can be sure.

What would I say to you?
Would I tell you I still think about you?
Even after all this time, would you think that I'm a fool?
What would I say to you?
Would I hint of romance, and starry nights?
What would I say to you?

If I said, “Life is coincident circles,
As arms that embrace bring grace to this world”.
Would you say, “Yes, and that which is given will always come 'round
         Once entwined, forever bound”.

What would I say to you?
Would I tell you I still think about you?
Even after all this time, would you think that I'm a fool?
What would I say to you?
Would I hint of romance, and starry nights?
What would I say to you?
What would I say to you?  Would I tell you I still dream about you?
And what would you say to me?

Long Beach Dunes    (Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Pink Moon beckoning, the sea birds all were singing,
And on that day love was not blind.
Laughing, whispering, we shared dreams and talked of things
That some day we hoped to find.

You held me gently, out on the rocky jetty,
Rising tide, waves crashing by.
Step by step, we left our mark along the sea.
Dancing to a Long Beach lullaby.

Meet me out behind the Long Beach dunes.
Where grey sky and green ocean turn to blue.
Feel the sand between your toes, no worries about where time goes,
Come meet me out behind the Long Beach dunes.

Look east, sunrise, lazy morning, cloudless skies.
The Dolphins were putting on a show.
Look west, sunset, we believed the best was yet to come,
Was it really so long ago?

Meet me out behind the Long Beach dunes.
Where grey sky and green ocean turn to blue.
Feel the sand between your toes, no worries about where time goes,
Come meet me out behind the Long Beach dunes.

Worn smooth over time like the sea glass that we’d find
Glistening with salty tears.
What was driven by the body is now left to the mind,
History and souvenirs.

Meet me out behind the Long Beach dunes.
Where grey sky and green ocean turn to blue.
Feel the sand between your toes, no worries about where time goes,
Come meet me out behind the Long Beach dunes.
Come meet me.  Come dream with me.
Come meet me out behind the Long Beach dunes.

Unspeakable Crime    (Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

I can’t do this.  I can’t share.  If I say anything I might care.
I might tell you I can’t sleep alone.  Dreams don’t mean anything alone.
That life has beat me down and crumbled under a home built up on years,
But one of us would end up in tears.

I’d fall apart and I don’t have the time.
So I’ll push you away.  An unspeakable crime.
Yes I  got your text old friend,
But I’ve got no use for the phone.

I can’t go there.  So please don’t ask.  To open up would break my brave mask.
You see I’m crippled by this turn of events.  Nothing in my life makes sense.
If I say my heart hurts so bad, I want to rip it from my chest,
Then I'd have to tell you the rest.

I’d fall apart and I don’t have the time.
So I’ll push you away.  An unspeakable crime.
Talk to my machine old friend,
‘Cause I can’t pick up the phone.

Let me keep my distance from what my heart can’t comprehend.
‘Till all that has been broken has had a chance to mend.
Time might make me a stranger.  Love paint me the fool.
A fool will fall for Love’s allure, time and time again.

I’d fall apart and I don’t have the time.
So I’ll push you away.  An unspeakable crime.
I hear you ringing my bell old friend,
   Give up, go home.
I’ll fall apart and I don’t have the time.
So I’ll push you away, an unspeakable crime.
I know that you mean well old friend,
Please go home, so the choice to talk and fall apart will leave me alone.

Every Kiss Counts    (Mandel, Rea) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC,New Dime Music/SESAC)

Will I see you tonight?" she said.  But he walked right by.
Followed by silence and the closing door.
For better or worse, feels like a curse,
And she can’t remember what love feels like anymore.

   Every Kiss Counts.
When you say hello and when you say good-bye.
Like a lovers' touch, a kiss can't tell a lie.
   Every Kiss Counts.
And the kiss you miss could be the kiss you miss the most.
Sooner or later, fools find out, every kiss counts.

"Help me understand" she said.  And reached for his hand.
"Where did the tenderness go?"
A kiss, a touch, a smile used to mean so much.
It seems we've forgotten, it's the little things that matter most.

So your love is at a crossroads.
        Which way to turn?
        What could have been different?
        What was there to learn?

   Every Kiss Counts.
When you say hello and when you say good-bye.
Like a lovers' touch, a kiss can't tell a lie.
   Every Kiss Counts.
And the kiss you miss could be the kiss you miss the most.
Sooner or later, fools find out, every kiss counts.
Sooner or later, you're going to find out, every kiss counts.

Chip Off The Old Ice Block    (Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Hotter than July in Jersey.
Yet you can still put a chill in the air.
I thought winters were tough in Alaska.
But they're nothing compared with your stare.

You're a class 5 hurricane headed for the Arctic.
But I can see no calm in your eyes.
Ripped apart, spun around and left homeless.
You wreak havoc and spare no lies.

The queen of your own igloo.
   A frigid gridlock.
A frozen flurry, a frosty floe.
A chip off the old ice block.

You get your exercise jumping to conclusions.
And don’t give a damn about what I have to say.
Once your mind's made up you hold your position
Like a glacier on a cloudy day.

The queen of your own igloo.
   A frigid gridlock.
A frozen flurry, a frosty floe.
A chip off the old ice block.

        Temperature's dropped.  Pipes froze.
Picked up my guitar but it's too damn cold.
On your way out your cat came in.
Tried to sing the blues but I can't stop sneezing'.

The queen of your own igloo.
   A frigid gridlock.
A frozen flurry, a frosty floe.
A chip off the old ice block.

I Will Keep Singing    (Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Born on a mountain.  Left with no home.
You reached out your hand as if to say don’t leave me here alone.
I had a feeling.  I know you’d agree,
It was not coincidence that brought you here to me.

I will keep singing as you dance from star to star.
Telling stories of how we came this far.

Love like a rainbow offers us gold.
And as a believer I thought love was something I could hold.
Now I watch the black crows circle above.
Still hearing your voice saying that you never leave the ones you love.

I will keep singing as you dance from star to star
Telling stories of how we came this far.
I will keep singing lest my voice begin to fade
Along with the laughter.  Leaving only the memories we’ve made.

With Wolf Moon rising through snow filled skies,
I reach out my hand to try to find you through these tear filled eyes.
I hope that you know the love you gave,
Was my world, you see, and I will carry it to my grave.

I will keep singing as you dance from star to star
Telling stories of how we came this far.
I will keep singing lest my voice begin to fade
   Along with the laughter…
I will keep singing In my effort to survive
One day at a time trying to keep your memory alive.

Give Me This Dance    (Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Gotta get it, together, now.
I’ve never been one to confess.
I’ve been putting up fences for you to take down.
I'm scared.  Not at my best.

I fear I've lost myself beneath this cold grey sky.
I don't want to lose you before we get our chance.
May I grow less afraid as more time goes by.
Take my hand.  Please give me this dance.

I swore I’d follow my heart.
Wherever it tells me to go.
Am I willing to fail for the chance to succeed
At what only a heart may know.

I fear I've lost myself beneath this cold grey sky.
I don't want to lose you before we get our chance.
May I grow less afraid as more time goes by.
Take my hand.  Please give me this dance.

If you would have asked me before yesterday,
“Got it all but the girl”,  I’d have said.
Wrote a song, said a prayer.  Sent them out there somewhere.
You answered, but I’m running instead.

I fear I've lost myself beneath this cold grey sky.
I don't want to lose you before we get our chance.
May I grow less afraid as more time goes by.
Take my hand.  Please give me this dance.

Gotta get it together now.

WASH ME IN THE WATER    (Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Sound of my sickle cuttin' the air.
Don't know if I'll get outtaf here.
Workin' hard for my children, Ben and Anna Lee,
So they can be who they want to be.

Wash me in the water, sing a little song.
Be free with my forgiveness, despite the world's wrong.
Giving my all, but not unselfishly.
I'm buyin' freedom for my family's family.

Brother and Sister working 'round me,
Each with their own dreams outside this field.
Put my mind to it, there really ain't no pain,
Keep a rhythm goin', cut the sugar cane.

Wash me in the water, sing a little song.
Be free with my forgiveness, despite the world's wrong.
Giving my all, but not unselfishly.
I'm buying freedom for my family's family.

D'ya hear they got a railroad?  Ain't got no track.
Carries human cargo, precious and black.
This railroad's under ground and it'll take us from the south.
Ain't no guarantee and we'll be livin' hand to mouth.

Wash me in the water, sing a little song.
Be free with my forgiveness, despite the world's wrong.
Giving my all, but not unselfishly.
I'm buying freedom for my family's family.

Gonna ride that railroad to the old stone church.
Next to the Yankee cemetery and the big white birch.
Blacksmith for a living.  Grow a little grain.
Grow a big family.  Thank the Lord for the rain.

Wash me in the water, sing a little song.
Be free with my forgiveness, despite the world's wrong.
Giving my all, but not unselfishly.
I'm buying freedom for my family's family.

Runaway Train    (Mandel, Attebery) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Half past moon over a railway station.
Got a ticket in my hand.
Remembering the conversation.
Thinking 'bout my destination.

Like a runaway train, I'm heading down this one-way track.
Is it my future waiting for me or is it my past?
I just want you to know I can see through the pane.
Your vision came before me like a runaway train.

I didn't want to hear you talk about commitment.
You said what you feel is what I fear.
Then you told me our love is no illusion.
Two points of view.  Only one solution.

Like a runaway train, I'm heading down this one-way track.
Is it my future waiting for me or is it my past?
I just want you to know I can see through the pane.
Your vision came before me like a runaway train.

It's taken half of my life and most of the night
To come full circle on this heartbeat track.
Don't want to live.  Don't want to live another minute.
Of the rest of my life if you're not in it.

Like a runaway train, I'm heading down this one-way track.
Is it my future waiting for me or is it my past?
I just want you to know I can see through the pane.
Your vision came before me like a runaway train.

Wonder We Call Love    (Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

You can hear it when the children sing.
It's in the wisdom that living brings.
It's in the beauty of your smile,
In the heart of your laughter,
It's the wonder we call love.

Poets have waxed for centuries
About what love is and what love means.
Even scientists can’t explain
If it starts with the heart, the eyes or the brain.

Babies know love instinctively.
Adults may lose sight of it in gravity.
Is love a complex catacomb
Or as simple as home sweet home?
Elusive as it may seem, love’s everywhere, it’s everything.

You can hear it when the children sing.
It's in the wisdom that living brings.
It's in the beauty of your smile,
In the heart of your laughter,
It's the wonder we call love.

A sculptor searches with chisel in stone.
Musicians use melody and tone.
Though you can’t put a finger on it, here’s what I believe,
The more I give love, the more I receive.
Elusive as it may seem, love’s everywhere, it’s everything.

You can hear it when the children sing.
It's in the wisdom that living brings.
It's in the beauty of your smile,
In the heart of your laughter,
It's the wonder we call love.
