Follow Your Heart    (Bruce Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

When will I know how much to let myself go?
Should I hold things back or let the music flow?
If I hold back too long she might slip away.
And I'll never know because I never did say,
Follow your heart.

Words are always hard to come by, they are few and far between.
Frustration builds, my eyelids fill, as I go on in a dream.
If I open too wide, there's so much room for pain.
Then I'm left by myself to chase away this rain.
Follow your heart.

        Try to follow your heart.
        Take things in stride.
        Find a place to start.
        Remember, Love has no pride.

Is it just my mind that keeps playing these games?
Or does everyone find it to be pretty much the same?
One minute I’m thinking she could be mine.
Then I sit and write my sorrow about wasted time.
Follow your heart.

In Search Of A Heart    (Bruce Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Someone said something about the world being a stage,
And you played your part so well.
You had me believing as I turned the next page,
But the first scene ended and the curtain fell.

I gave it my all, now I'm watching my all fall down.
So up goes the wall, to stifle the call
Of a heart that's searching for a heart
In search of a heart like mine.

So there I was wearing my heart up on stage.
A command performance for one.
I know love's not easy.  Is it always this vague?
Should I give more or run?

I gave it my all, now I'm watching my all fall down.
So up goes the wall, to stifle the call
Of a heart that's searching for a heart
In search of a heart like mine.

I know sooner or later a chance will come 'round again,
You see Cupid must just be off his mark.
But he'll draw back his bow and let another arrow go,
One that's bound to find two hearts.

I gave it my all, now I'm watching my all fall down.
So up goes the wall, to stifle the call
Of a heart that's searching for a heart
In search of a heart like mine.

Cross The Line    (Bruce Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Saw you for the first time in the sand by the bay.
We met, we talked, we took a chance.  We let our hearts try to find their way.
Your copper long hair and your blue eyes prefaced the story to come.
How was I to know you couldn't let your feelings show, that you would never say,
Give me some time.  Help me cross the line.

Mary, do you want it to be this way?
Search in your heart past the restless part, to see that it's O.K.
Mary, does it always turn out this way?
Open your eyes, take off that disguise.  Cross the line today.

All alone you stand on your own two feet with your hands in the air.
When it comes right down to your heart girl, you're not sure what's there.
As those feelings arise that you're afraid of, you begin to fight them down.
And the woman inside, the loving one you hide, you never let her come around.
All we need is time.  I'll help you cross the line.

Mary, do you want it to be this way?
Search in your heart past the restless part, to see that it's O.K.
Mary, does it always turn out this way?
Open your eyes, take off that disguise.  Cross the line today.

Saw you for the last time on that cold November day.
You let it out, you spoke your peace, and looked the other way.
Your copper long hair hid your blue eyes, as this story came to an end.
How was I to know you couldn't let your feelings show and you would never say
Give me some time.  Help me cross the line.
What a fool am I, to think that you would try, to look into my eyes and say,
I'm glad you took the time.  You helped me cross the line.

Mary, do you want it to be this way?
Search in your heart past the restless part, to see that it's O.K.
Mary, does it always turn out this way?
Open your eyes, take off that disguise.  Cross the line today.
   Mary, Ever love's castaway
Search in your heart past the restless part, cross the line today.

Love Ain’t Easy    (Bruce Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Love ain't easy, sometimes you have to work real hard.
Life ain't pleasing when it catches you off guard.

It's so damn depressing when there's no way off the ground.
Always seems like the first time.  Doing your best and stumbling 'round
An emotional see-saw.  Near the top, then falling down.

Love ain't easy.  Sometimes you have to work real hard.
Life ain't pleasing when it catches you off guard.

Head over heels and falling.
Will it be real this time?
The things that you say with your sweet blue eyes
When you look into mine and smile so kind,
Makes me want to believe
There’s no need for hesitation this time.

Love ain't easy.  Sometimes you have to work real hard.
Life ain't pleasing when it catches you off guard.

        Oh, to be your lover...
A little more than just a friend.
Come on over lay down by me.
I know this all happened unexpectedly.
But your seed has been sown in my heart.
And I believe this is where we start.

Love ain't easy.  Sometimes you have to work real hard.
Life ain't pleasing when it catches you off guard.
Love ain't  easy.  Why does it have to be so hard

ROOMFUL OF MEMORIES    (Bruce Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Splintered frames cradle window panes of hand blown glass.
Overlooking this old train town with it's horse drawn past.
In this one room of many above my Dad's old store,
Which to me, a pharmacy, was a hotel before,
I've accumulated boxes and lots of old things
That have become part of my past with the memories they bring.

Traces of faces and places I've known
In this roomful of memories, a place once like home.
Found this old guitar with one more song in it's strings
About things collected and dreams lingering,
Waiting for me in this roomful of memories.

Shades of tiffany and old time brass.
A flag with a vision once hung at half-mast.
There's dust in the corner, and in the back of my throat,
And yellowed headlines about bombing some boats.
There's laughter and voices behind sepia tones.
And a box full of love letters and unfinished poems.

Traces of faces and places I've known
In this roomful of memories, a place once like home.
Found this old guitar with one more song in it's strings
About things collected and dreams lingering,
Waiting for me in this roomful of memories.

Do you think that by gathering these pieces of my past
That I might have a chance these memories will last?
Maybe I came here to find a talisman of youth
To guide me in light as I search for my truth.

Traces of faces and places I've known
In this roomful of memories, a place once like home.
Found this old guitar with one more song in it's strings
About things collected and dreams lingering,
Waiting for me in this roomful of memories.

Will You Be Mine    (Bruce Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

There’s been too many dreams, broken it seems,
Escaping the pain of freedom.
Believe in your heart.  Believe in me.
Believe in your soul and what will be will be.

Like the wise old pine I offer you strength.
Like a rainbow I’ll go to any length.
Shoot a star across a clear Maine sky,
   Give me a sign.
   I’ll be your best friend.
   Will you be mine?

Another lover running for cover.
A wolf heading for high ground.
I know the value of a fresh point of view,
For like an ocean, I also change hue.

Like the wise old pine I offer you strength.
Like a rainbow I’ll go to any length.
Shoot a star across a clear Maine sky,
   Give me a sign.
   I’ll be your best friend.
   Will you be mine?

With so many hearts falling apart
For fear of letting go.
If you and I take the time to learn why,
Building it slow, love may follow.

Like the wise old pine I offer you strength.
Like a rainbow I’ll go to any length.
Shoot a star across a clear Maine sky,
   Give me a sign.
   I’ll be your best friend.
   Will you be mine?

(I SAID) I'M NOT READY    (Bruce Mandel/Bliss Bowen) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

I wore two black leaves, hung them from my ears
Like a challenge to the darkness in it's games with time.
But I know I can't keep up with this game for too long
My eyes of light will give me away.
And I'm not ready to give up these eyes of light
I said I'm not ready.
We were two bright sails, I saw them in a dream

Gleaming beacons at life's twilight, grand messengers through time.
But yours sails with a wind that blew me away
I cry and I watch as you fade into night.
I'm torn yet I'm not ready to give up the light
I said I'm not ready.

Don't leave me alone.  Don't leave home.
The challenge can't be dead yet.
Are we only grasping for what we'll never hold.

I hear the fog horn call, yes, night is falling.
And some stars are shinning through like I always did for you.
Now I hide and seek to join you in this darkness
But my eyes of light still give me a way.
I'm not ready for your journey into night.
I'm not ready to give up these eyes of light.
I hope you understand it's not my time to go
I said I'm not ready.

Tracey (Just A Tear)    (Bruce Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

Where do we go now from here?
I don't know our path's not clear.
It was a short time.  Was it a false rhyme?
Should I have told you that I loved you?

I have been thinking of you.
And I don't know what to do.
Should I call you?  Because I'm blue.
Or should I turn and walk away?

Tracey, just a tear is all you'll see it's on the outside.
There's so much more than that to me.
Tracey, just one tear is all you'll see.  That's all I cried.
Tracey, just a tear, I know I tried.

I live and learn each day.
And I know good things will come my way.
I'm glad that we met.  Nothing's a sure bet.
But I can tell you that I loved you.

Tracey, just a tear is all you'll see it's on the outside.
There's so much more than that to me.
Tracey, just one tear is all you'll see.  That's all I cried.
Tracey, just a tear, I know I tried.

Now as our paths begin to clear,
Mine moves on but ours stops here.
And as you left, I lost a tear.

Tracey, just a tear is all you'll see it's on the outside.
There's so much more than that to me.
Tracey, just one tear is all you'll see.  That's all I cried.
Tracey, just a tear, I know I tried.

Colorado Eyes    (Bruce Mandel) ©Bruce Mandel (Raging Waters Music/SESAC)

You came to me out of nowhere.  Not at all a part of the plan.
I was looking for a sweet peaceful retreat and the spirit of a medicine man.
Ain’t it funny how life unfolds, step by step, all in it’s time.
Touched by the past now I can’t let go of your heart light that shines in your Colorado Eyes.

   Hey now, Colorado Eyes.
How about this picture puzzle falling from the skies.
Neither of us knows what the pieces will reveal,
But I can see my music in your eyes, your Colorado Eyes.

Many moons and life cycles have come ‘round as I visualized my goals
Of who I am, and where it is I’m going, and the woman of my soul.
Ain’t it funny how life unfolds, step by step, all in it’s time.
You’ve been living out your dreams.  I’ve just found mine in your Colorado Eyes.

   Hey now, Colorado Eyes.
How about this picture puzzle falling from the skies.
Neither of us knows what the pieces will reveal,
But I can see the mountains in your eyes, your Colorado Eyes.

Hear that voice riding the Animas breeze,
With a message that’s meant for you and me.
A soft gentle whispering in our ears.
With honorable intentions, strong and clear.
Baby, I’m committed to this grand new start.
This voice is talking to my heart.

Ain’t it funny how life unfolds, step by step, all in it’s time.
Our dreams are for us to realize together by and by, oh, Colorado Eyes.

   Hey now, Colorado Eyes.
How about this picture puzzle falling from the skies.
Neither of us knows what the pieces will reveal,
But I can see the canyons in your…
   Hey now, Colorado Eyes,
How about this picture puzzle falling from the skies.
Neither of us knows what the pieces will reveal,
But I can see my music in your eyes, your Colorado Eyes.
I can see the world in your eyes.
   Oh, Colorado Eyes.
